What is a contemporary learning journey?

To meet the needs of our learners for a future of success our students need to learn many skills. No longer is education seen as filling a head with knowledge. Instead we work to develop creative and critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration and the ability to persevere in seeking solutions. Students need a growth mindset to continue to develop.

Traditional classrooms struggle to meet the needs of students today. Students require flexible and adaptive environments with work tailored for their specific needs. The use of data to inform teaching is crucial as is the use of timely intervention to support students.

All of this is achieved through the staff working in collaborative professional learning teams to support the students. In addition, we strive to maintain a caring community: where individuals are valued for their unique gifts and for the contributions they make; where children and adults alike are free to express their views, entitled to feel safe and have fun into the bargain; and where many opportunities are offered.
